Christina Hyatt, Virtual Assistant was born in January 2012. I was looking at going back to work after maternity leave, and I knew our family needed a change. I decided that I would take everything I loved about my previous positions and create a job for myself, based in my home. Discussions with my family ensued, and my husband suggested a self-help book based on midlife crisis’s (he is a funny guy). Despite the sarcasm, we worked together and came up with a business plan we named ‘The Plan of Attack’ and my Virtual Assistant business was born.
The biggest hurdle I have had to face is the term ‘virtual assistant’.
As defined by Wikipedia:
A virtual assistant (typically abbreviated to VA, also called a virtual office assistant) is generally self-employed and provides professional administrative, technical, or creative (social) assistance to clients remotely from a home office. Because virtual assistants are independent contractors rather than employees, clients are not responsible for any employee-related taxes, insurance or benefits, except in the context that those indirect expenses are included in the VA's fees. Clients also avoid the logistical problem of providing extra office space, equipment or supplies. Clients pay for 100% productive work, and can work with Virtual Assistants to meet their exact needs. Virtual Assistants usually work for other small business, but can also support busy executives.
This is a pretty good description. My day is fun, never the same as the day before, and always challenging. I love my work, and have found an excellent balance juggling my career, family life, and the unique demands of an extremely active toddler!
As your virtual Wonder Woman, I take the administrative pressure off you, so that you can focus on what you do best – running your business. I took my love of label makers, organizing, bookkeeping and mail merge to a professional level. You, as my client, can tap into my ‘nerd’ tendencies and profit from my love of reconciliation and symmetry!
Making your business run smoothly!
